Quality strength exercises are focused on form. This means that you don't depend so much on the number of reps you make when you're performing stomach crunches, but you zero in on how well you deliver the crunches.
During sit ups and stomach crunches, you must keep in mind your pressure focal points. Concentrate all the pressure of lifting your upper body up on your abdominal muscle group. You're trying to build them up, after all. Never lift your body up with your hands. You'll only end up straining your neck and your back this way, and end up injuring your body severely.
Even when you're not exercising, you should try to keep your posture well. Stand up or sit up straight, and let your abdominal muscles work on holding up your body weight and balance. You'll notice that most dancers have very tight abs. This is because they've learned to incorporate core muscles with all their bodily movements.
What you eat counts a lot
As we've mentioned earlier, excessive fat only means excessive energy. When you eat more than what your body burns in a day, you store unwanted fat. You should keep a healthy diet that provides enough fuel for your body without storing up excessive calories. Stay away from sweets and food products that are too salty. Fast food meals are full of trans-fat which are very hard to get rid of. They're also extremely harmful for your heart. If you want to live longer and look better, you need to put a little extra effort into doing so.
Sleep and metabolism
When you don't get enough sleep at night, your body tends to go haywire. Even though you're already an adult, you should at least get six hours of sleep a night. This is good for rebuilding muscles and keeping your metabolism up and running.
